FAQs - Frequently asked questions
Q. How do I configure my router for port forwarding?
A. Please see document on port forwarding.
Q. The camera is accessible from the local area network but not externally over the Internet. Why?
A. You may have forgotten to set the IP parameters of the Axis product correctly. If you are on a 192.168.0.x net, normally the netmask is 255.255.255.0 and the default router is 192.168.0.1. These numbers may differ of course.
A. You may need to restart your broadband router after configuring it.
A. Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or broadband router blocks incoming traffic. Try to enable it or call your ISP.
Q. After configuring my camera, I cannot reach it. Why?
A. Remember to specify the HTTP port number and the new IP address. If you are using the AXIS Internet Dynamic DNS Service, you may need to press the button at the back of the Axis product once again to register the new address.
Q. My camera works well for a few days, but then I cannot reach it over the Internet. Why?
A. You may have an ISP (Internet Service Provider) that gives you new dynamic IP addresses. Press the button at the back of the Axis product to temporarily solve the problem, or try to get a static IP address from your ISP.
Q. My ISP requires PPPoE to login. Can I connect an Axis network camera directly to it?
A. No, since Axis products do not support PPPoE or any other login method, you will need a broadband router that takes care of that.
